Factory workers
Factory work for the most part is grindingly boring. It offers few rewards for the human spirit. It is dominated by time, repetition, noise and grime. When these photographs were taken most factory work had become de-skilled but not fully automated. In just a very few cases skill and craft were called upon, but for the most part men and women tended machines, and fed the process with components.
